Decades of style featured at March of Dimes event

March of Dimes Born With Style Event

The ballroom was packed with some of Palm Beach’s most fashionable young friends for the inaugural “March of Dimes Born With Style” event, which took place at the Beach Club in Palm Beach on Dec. 4.

The evening featured local men and women who dressed in fashions representing the decades from the ’50s to the ’90s. Fashionista Palm Beach supplied the clothing for several of the models while DJ Adam Lipson played tunes of each era while Josh Cohen emceed the event.

Committee members included: Monique Javarone representing the ’50s in a vintage chiffon gown; Sheryl Rosin representing the ’60s wearing vintage Monique Lhuillier; Justin Lynch in vintage Lily Pulitzer representing the ’70s; Davis McDuffie wearing his own black velvet smoking jacket; Kristina Olsen wearing vintage Krizia from the ’80s; and Lori Stoll in vintage Halston.

Committee member Carla Cartier did the styling for the event, working with the models creating hairstyles and makeup that turned them into icons of the generation they represented.

During the event Cohen announced several March of Dimes’ achievements through the decades including the founding of the organization by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the ’50s and his goal to eradicate polio.

Other decade highlights included the development of newborn screening for PKU in the ’60s, the development of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the ’70s and the continued research that goes into the innovative research and therapies that make the March of Dimes a leading organization for families and babies.

The evening also included custom-created live auction packages included a Christopher Kaufmann Bracelet, Gucci Diamante duffle gag and tickets for the March of Dimes 75th “Anniversary Gala” taking place in January.

The March of Dimes works in local communities across the country helping mothers take charge of their health, and supporting families when something goes wrong.

The March of Dimes also acts globally sharing best practices in prenatal health and helping improve birth outcomes where the needs are the most urgent.
